Install modX

Once you have completed Steps 1 & 2, you can access the modX install script from your browser.

1. Type in the url (& directory if your install files are locate elsewhere). Enter, and press "Next".

2. Here we read and agree to the license terms, then click "Next".

3. We haven't installed modX before, so we are choosing "New Installation". Click "Next".

4. Here we give modx our database details from Step 2, and press "Test Connection".

5. The host connection and database are passed, we now enter a modX administrator name and password - these are entirely your own to decide, in this instance "admin" was used. Press "Next".

6. modX prepares the installation with options - press "Next"

7. The installation is now ready to proceed - press "Install Now".

8. A summary of the install is displayed on screen, we can now remove all the installation files - press "Next".

9. The installation is complete - we are now ready to use the 'Manager". The username and password are what you typed in (see 5.)

10. If you check back to your home page, you'll see the default template is now installed and live, and we are ready to customize modX using the manager.
